A Message from Our Secretary General
EMUN2026
Dear Delegates and Advisors,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the 2026 Eton Model United Nations. This year’s conference marks not only another edition of our tradition of diplomacy and debate but also a renewed commitment to education, collaboration, and critical global thinking. Whether this is your first time participating or you are returning for another enriching experience, we are delighted to have you join our community of passionate and intellectually driven delegates. At EMUN, our mission has always been to move beyond the surface of discussion and simulation, fostering a deeper understanding of the political, social, and economic systems that shape our world. By incorporating both historical and present-day simulations, as well as English and Spanish committees, EMUN invites delegates to explore the past to better comprehend the complexities of the present. We believe that understanding history not only prevents us from repeating past mistakes but also provides the insight and perspective necessary to confront the evolving.
Our historical simulation this year will transport delegates to distinct yet equally transformative moments in human history. From the Roman Senate, where power, rhetoric, and governance first intertwined to define Western political thought, to the Six-Day War, which reshaped the Middle East and continues to influence global politics today, delegates will have the opportunity to examine the roots of conflict and negotiation. Additionally, our simulation on the AIDS crisis will immerse participants in one of the most challenging humanitarian and public health emergencies of the 20th century. Our present-day simulations will shift focus to Latin America, a region rich in culture, diversity, and political complexity. Delegates will engage with pressing issues that continue to shape the continent, including governance, economic development, and regional cooperation. Alongside, another dynamic simulation will explore the FIFA World Cup, delving into the intersections of sports, international influence, and diplomacy. In each of these committees, delegates will be called upon to analyze complex ethical and political dilemmas while confronting the consequences of leadership and inaction.
EMUN is designed to foster both personal and intellectual growth, offering every delegate the opportunity to practice empathy, refine public speaking, and build confidence through debate and negotiation. We encourage participants to embrace curiosity, challenge assumptions, and engage with diverse perspectives because true diplomacy begins not with agreement, but with understanding. This spirit of collaboration extends to all those who make EMUN possible, and on behalf of the Secretariat, I express my deepest gratitude to the advisors, chairs, and organizing team whose dedication and passion give this conference its distinctive spirit. To all our delegates: thank you for being part of EMUN 2026. We eagerly look forward to welcoming you to Mexico City and witnessing the ideas, alliances, and leadership that will emerge from your committees.
Sincerely,
Isamar Vilchis
Secretary General
