Asociación de Becas Eton, A.C.

Asociación de Becas Eton, A.C. is a non-profit association made up of Eton parents that grants scholarships to Eton School Mexico students if their economic support provider dies or becomes completely and permanently disabled, allowing them to continue their studies until the last year of high school.

Scholarship

Monetary grant that covers enrollment fees, tuition, books, mandatory school bus service, UNAM fees, International Baccalaureate fees, and Parent-Teacher Association fees, either at Eton or another school. The scholarship covers these costs continuously from the time of death or disability until the last grade of high school or its equivalent.

Recipient

Full-time student registered with the association by their economic support provider who, upon the death or the complete and permanent disability of their economic support provider, is enrolled at Eton during the current school year and until the end of that year’s summer break.

Board of Directors

It is the governing body of the association per what the bylaws state. It is made up of people appointed by the General Member Assembly.

The Board of Directors may appoint advisors to provide their opinion or support in any matter requiring certain expertise.

Fee

Annual contribution Eton families pay to become or continue as members of the association, thereby building the trust’s assets.

The annual contribution is set per student according to grade level.

School

Any public or private institution, other than Eton School, located in Mexico or another country in the American continent. It must be recognized officially by the competent authority of the country in question, and it must allow for the use of the scholarship funds.

Complete and permanent disability

Condition caused by an illness or accident that prevents the economic support provider from performing a regular occupation or any other remunerative job compatible with their knowledge, lifestyle, and aptitudes. This condition must be total, permanent, and continuous.

Economic support provider

The parent, legal guardian, or person registered at Eton School Mexico as the individual in charge of paying for the educational services provided. They must appoint, in the MAR form, the student(s) who would receive the scholarship in case of their death or disability.

To register someone other than a parent or legal guardian as the economic support provider, it is necessary to prove their economic standing and health to the Board of Directors.

Members

Parents become members of the association in one of three capacities.

1. Founding Members: Parents who constituted the non-profit at the time of its creation.
2. Adherent Members: Parents who, among other requirements, are the economic support providers of one or more Eton School students, are accepted as adherent members, and pay their yearly contributions to the association on time.
3. Active Members: Members who, among other requirements, have been adherent members for four years, paid their yearly contributions on time, were accepted as active members, continue to pay their yearly contributions on time, and commit to participating in the association’s activities.

School bus service

The school bus service fee is included in the scholarship, provided it is mandatory and the student was already using it prior to the event that led to the granting of the scholarship. Any other case will be determined by the Board of Directors.

Members’ Annual Registration (MAR) form

It’s the form that economic support providers fill out and sign every year to become or remain members of the association.

The MAR is also where they register the student(s) who are potential scholarship recipients in the event of their death or complete and total disability.
